The Board of the OKF Collection Foundation (Insamlingsstiftelsen OKF) hereby issues an appeal to the general public, to organisations and to businesses, inviting them to support the foundation.
The foundation has been established by Ahmed Ibrahim, entrepreneur and philanthropist, with a long-term ambition to contribute to positive and lasting change in society by supporting humanitarian efforts and projects that improve people’s living conditions.
The foundation builds on the work carried out over many years by Operakällaren through the Operakällaren Foundation initiative. Through this initiative, individuals, companies and organisations have come together around shared efforts to support international aid projects. Working with established organisations such as UNICEF, WaterAid and, today, charity: water, significant funds have been raised for projects that improve access to clean water, sanitation, education and health.
Access to clean and safe water is a fundamental condition for people’s health, development and future opportunities. The experience gained through this long-term work has laid the foundation for establishing the OKF Collection Foundation, whose purpose is to create the conditions for continued, long-term support for humanitarian and community-development efforts in Sweden and internationally.
The purpose of this appeal is to enable the formation and registration of the collection foundation in accordance with the Swedish Foundations Act (1994:1220).
The purpose of the foundation shall be to promote humanitarian, social and community-development efforts that contribute to people’s health, well-being and future opportunities, and to promote efforts that benefit the environment.
The foundation may promote these purposes in various ways, for example through the following:
- supporting and enabling access to clean and safe water, and promoting sanitation and hygiene
- supporting water-related projects in different parts of the world, including in East Africa
- promoting projects directed at women and children, especially girls, and other particularly vulnerable groups, for example through educational initiatives
The purposes shall be fulfilled by the foundation providing grants to, or otherwise supporting, individuals, projects or organisations that need or carry out aid work, or that conduct scientific research, education or advocacy within the scope of the foundation’s purposes. In doing so, the foundation may also conduct its own activities and may collaborate or enter into partnerships with other actors. The foundation may also promote the purposes set out above by providing financial support to another organisation (so-called indirect promotion).
The foundation’s purposes may be promoted both nationally and internationally.
The foundation shall raise funds in order to promote its purposes. The foundation may undertake revenue-generating activities, such as events, galas, dinners, campaigns or other arrangements, and collaborations with external partners.
The Board has the authority to determine the proportions in which the foundation’s specific purposes are to be fulfilled. The purpose shall be interpreted broadly, giving the Board latitude to adapt the foundation’s activities over time in line with developments in society and the resources available.
The foundation may conduct business activities directly or through subsidiaries in order to promote its purpose.
