This year’s breakfast seminar takes place on the morning of 3 September and we are very pleased to present actress Sofia Helin as the host. Sofia Helin has long been a star of Swedish film and has played leading roles in successful films such as “Masjävlar” and “Arn”. The internationally renown TV-series, “The Bridge” (or “Bron” in Sweden/Denmark), has given her international recognition.
Sofia is an ambassador for WaterAid and specifically engaged in the genderaspect of water, toilets and hygiene. Earlier this year, Sofia visited WaterAid’s work in Cambodia and will now be sharing her experiences and reflections from this trip, for all of us joining the breakfast seminar.
The global political perspective will be presented by top diplomat and former Swedish Minister for Foreign Affairs, Jan Eliasson. Jan Eliasson is a global ambassador for WaterAid and also one of WaterAid Sweden’s founders. During the course of the breakfast seminar, Jan will share of his vast experience at the United Nations, where he, through is various roles at the UN, has seen how enormously important water is for peace, security and development.
The third featured speaker will be Ilwad Elman. Ilwad is born in Somalia but grew up in Canada. Her father was a leading peace activist in Somalia, who was murdered as a result of his work in 1996. Ilwad returned to Somalia in 2010 and is now working with peace and women’s rights in the country. She is famous for her inspiring speeches and was awarded Young African Woman of the Year in 2016.
